A nite out with Farah and my very first X'mas gift..

finally met up wif dear farah while she's back in sg for her summer break. it's been more than a year since we last seen each other after she'd left for melbourne to further her studies. we'd update each other of our happenings over the past one year such as our family; me being a slacker in school and after sch; campus life in contrast; and the all time fave qn - 'relationships' farah was kinda caught by surprised when i told her i haven't been attached all this while. haa. we'd brought in subjects like days in poly time and how different is it now compare to our uni lifestyle. last to add into our conversation was our "missing" favourite activity, scuba diving! appearantly farah haven't been diving too, ever since our last dive trip, we seriously need a revision class in preparations for our next dive trip (if we're planning to have one).

after chatting for around 2hrs or so, farah handed me my first x'mas present for the year 2006. it's a book by Mitch Albom, title: Tuesdays with Morrie. thou i dun have the habit of reading, plus i hardly visit the library, but i was reminded like 4-5times by farah (b4 we parted) to fnish reading the book as the story holds a significant meaning behind it. not wanting to disappoint farah, i'd promised her that i'll definately finish reading the book for her sake.

Singapore Underwater Federation

the word "hockey" may seems familiar to many, in particular, we can link the term "hockey" to sports like hockey on field, ice-hockey (more aggressive ones) and inline-hockey. but have u ever heard of "underwater hockey"? at least not for myself, it's probably the first time i've ever encounter this activity and of cos i'm curious about it. i was introduced into this sport through a fren who's currently a member of the S'pore Underwater Federation (SUF in short). but i've yet to actuali gone down to see for myself, shld do some exploration soon.

Underwater hockey literally means it's a sport conducted in the waters, however it's not essential to be fully-equipped with the normal diving suit and equipments, instead the players basically just need to wear their large fins, a diving mask with snorkel and a thick glove. Underwater hockey is played in a 25m x 15m pool that is between 1.8 - 3 m deep. Each side has 12 players, 10 of who can play in any one game. During the game 6 players are in the pool with 4 interchange players on the side who can sub-in at any time. as for the details, i'll leave it to those who are interested to see for themselves --> http://www.suf.org.sg/uwhockey.asp

they are having their training sessions every Tue and Fri, from 7.30-9pm, and venue would be at Queensway Swimming Complex. for those are keen to find out more of this unusual sport, drop by the above mentioned location to see for urself what "underwater hockey" is all about.

of the delayed movie - 'Be With Me' ~ Eric Khoo

finally seen the most longing film ever - Be With Me! as a matter of fact, i think it's a very nice show, which can be related to our lives. i'm not a fan of Eric Khoo, but tis film's definately brought up the social anthropology issues in our local context, that some of us may be facing now.

the film's actually a collection of 3 short-stories, in which thou each story do not have a interrelationship but they're somewhat tied to and elaborated on from thereon. the film 'Be With Me' comes with minimum dialogue and hence, some even named it the silent movie, i guess mainly becos of the key character of the movie (in the story of 'Meant to Be') where the role was being played by Theresa Chan, a mute and deaf (as well as in real person); thus, the communications was more of a body language interactions than to what a physically-abled way of communication.

my intial focus was the story on 'So in Love', reflecting the homosexuality of 2 teenage girls in their lesbian romance. i like the way the storyline was being portray quite objectively, without any judgements made by either the director or any from the views of public; incidentally, there wasn't any clarifications to the psychological aspects of how the girls may feel being a lesbian themselves. for instance - how they feel falling in love with someone of the same gender; what they are expecting from the relationship; how to convince people to acknowledge them or even how to cope if nobody accepts them, etc; which i feel was quite a challenging question and something worth mentioning, especially with more man and woman engaging in homosexual relationship in our society. how can we better understand our society? maybe with more films interpreting the facts than to hide away the truth.

the last story on 'Finding Love', was the most meaningless of the 3, i felt. a low self-esteem security guard "fatty koh" who's secretly in love with Lynn Poh taking the role of a pretty and sexy executive from the same working building. "fatty koh", who's shy, lowly-educated, has a great social-class deviation from Lynn Poh, tries to confess his love to her by penning his feelings and affections on a piece of 'love letter'. dramatically, the story took a 360 degree turn when "fatty koh" finally braces his courage to express his love via the love letter but was killed on his way to send out the letter (when Ezann Lee jumped off a HDB rooftop and landed on him instead -.-").

but i would say, the movie was well ecologically interpreted and truly a singaporean narration. very inspiring and emotional translation of Theresa Chan's life-tale; a role-model to all who thinks u're less-fortunate and always complaining about your life, then perhaps take a look at Theresa's story.

of the Raining Saturday

my Saturday turned out quite pathetic, the initial plan of camping overnight at ECP was ruined due to the prolong raining since early noon. the weather was bad, and so was my mood. i simply have no wish to step out of my house anymore, not to mention the distance cover over ECP. i've been online the whole afternoon, watching vid clips as well as napping, a wasteful Saturday in another words. but i'm still doing so now, i mean wad else can i do? i can never expect myself to be revising my materials at a point like this (it's a excuse, i noe).

while, then as i was thinking of perhaps skating would spice me up alittle; so i smsed Qiu, to see if she's keen in a short session, but she's in the midst of going down to visit little Chantel. ohh well, maybe i should go tmr on my own, haven been practising for a week or so.

i'll probably be travelling down to Pasir Ris this coming week to book the chalet for our December JVS gathering, geez.. thou i kinda dread going to the extreme part of s'pore but guess i have no choice since i'm holding on to the voucher, thank god for the creation of mp3 players! to keep me company throughout the journey.

sometimes, i'd reali wished i'm staying in the east rather.

Boredom is killing me!

boring boring boring... and i have no wish to greet my bed as yet, wad can i do?!?!?! :x

i wish i'm back at work, i won't feel so lost then (perhaps) *sigh*

(1) Farah's back from aussie for her summer break. din noe she's back til she saw my email and replied me via sms; initially wanted her to check on some freeskates pricing while she's over at aus but since she's back, jus as well, shld mit her up for dinner soon! haven seen her for more than a year le. time reali flies...
(2) i have the intention to go for a short break myself along with some frenz to krabi, kho phiphi, but seems now that the plan has to be put to a hold, cos i'm reali reali broke. so before i think of leisure, perhaps i shld get myself a job first, sounds more practical yea? currently many thoughts going through my mind, but i need to be financially supported first to carry out those plans! wish me luck folks <3
(3) i hope the cheque from mediacorp will be in by this week, thou it won't made much of a difference, but i'd feel mentality secured somehow, i think i'm reali desperate now! :\
if someone offer me $$ now i'll do anything for him/her. NOW!!!! give me the big S-11

ps: i can't breathe, the pressure of $ is drowning me! hope the badminton game i'm having later will relieve some pressure which i'm undergoing nw.

After myth of the Subaru WRX Challenge

yesh! i'm back home now, at the comfort of my cosy room and away from the agony of the long-hours of standing and walking around :x

just when i was thinking (before the event), if more than a 1000 ppl wanted to take part in this contest, probably the competition ain't as tough as wad i thought of. seriously that mentality was very wrong! with more than 1000 ppl trying to ballot for their chance to get into the contesting arena, yet only 320 participants are "lucky" enuff to be given the chance to stand under the sun and rain for 3 consecutive days, u might jus wanna shout out to them 'SIAO EH!'

it's really tough to imagine hw's the situation like unless u are inside this whole thing urself, lest i've been thru 1/2 of wad they've been going thru nw. on seeing them having to stand infront of the Ngee Ann Civic Plaza for hours, with min. water and practically no rest (unless u capable of sleeping while standing and have no tendency of lifting ur hand up) and the endurance of undesirable physical and emotional distress, we've really gotta salute to them siah. thou, i'm not there at the scene thru out the entire process but i've been there myself for 23hrs being a marshall, and i can share with all, that merely by standing and walking around the arena for the whole day, my poor limbs are aching and giving way le =( so imagine urself standing and doing nutthin much, with ur whole body station within a constraint spot, how boring and helpless can u be? u'll start imagining and let ur mind runs wild, not kidding, i've heard some talking nonsense among themselves.

i can't think of much ways to help the contenders apart from talking and crapping lots with them, and spraying more water on their faces; necks and limbs, to prevent them from dehydration. i've encountered some contenders who really hope to stay on longer but their physical simply couldn't hold out anymore, and from their expressions i could tell how much they hope to stay on, how devastating it is to part the area and their other fellow contenders. of the happier happenings, i'd made some frenz in this contest, more from the contenders aspect to the marshalls, esp from Car no.4! a bunch of cute ppl... and friendly to get along too, in particular the 2 muslim 'arbang', they were really funny and cute and thankfully they're still in the competition (hopefully, they're still hanging on now). apart from the 2 'abang', there's one pretty good-looking guy from the same car, but he's rather shy and quiet, so we din really chat much, except that his frenz from the spectators kept disturbing us (the marshalls) -.-"

i truly hope the guys can stay on til tuesday, thou i noe somehow they probably won't be the ultimate winner, but still pray hard for them and all the best! rem the 'never say die' spirit.

the 2 'abangs' and the shy-looking cute guy

ps: it's a competition for the insane!

Special thanks to Daddy & Mummy. Love u folks always!

of the Subaru WRX Challenge 2006

I am gg for the WRX Challenge! YAY! haa.. not as a contestant thou, but as the marshal rather. hee. I'll be working on both weekends as well on Monday, kinda looking forward to my weekends but at the same time it's gonna be super tiring, standing under the sun/rain for more than 6hrs! (consider myself lucky compared to the contestants perhaps? who can't even move their poor palm away from the car.) I went for the briefing ytd evening at TCS, yes! TCS, u've heard me right. Appearantly, becos the hit radio station 98.7fm (who is the official media channel for this event) will be hosting the competition, hence the marshals were told to assemble at the TCS reception area for a short briefing. And after briefing, Cheryl and I went for late dinner at Bt Timah (opp the Beauty World)... dinner was fine + abit of chatting... then came the worst thing of my life, where both of us were made to wait for more than an hr for the bloody idiotic SBS bus no.157!! fark! seriously, very bad service i feel. Thou we have each other's company thru out the whole ordeal, but i was reali puzzled over the waiting time especially when we saw 4 of bus service no.174 jus went by, and yet the delayed 157 is nowhere insight! As the time tick by, the impatient me started to get more annoyed. anw, the night was quite infuriating and i shouldn't elaborate more on it.

Presenting the Subaru WRX:

ps: it's my second bad experience with SBS within a month! wadz happening to our public transport services? more price hike somemore @_@ we deserve better service!
