some random thoughts

it was flashed across Saturday's Newpaper headlines, 'Perth Diving Victim back in S'pore Hospital'. it started with the 24 yr old graduate, Serene, who went on a-week long holiday to Rottnest Island, a popular beach resort in Perth; together with her boyfriend for their desired scuba diving trip. tragedy strikes on the 4th day of their holiday; on the 8th dive at Groper Caves off Geordie Bay. it is known that Serene had appearantly signalled to her dive buddy aka boyfriend, that she wanted to surface, but minutes later, she was found lying motionless on the seabed. she was then pulled out of the sea unconscious and brought onto the boat where the dive-master attempts to perform resuscitation. she was admitted into the local A&E for immediate medical attention, subsequently, she was flew back to homeland via the int'l SOS, now she's warded in ICU of TTS hospital, in coma status still.

after reading the news, it kinda pound on me; it'll be my first 'overseas dive trip' if my plan goes on smoothly for this coming May/June, am i prepared for it? afterall, diving is so unlike any other outdoor activities, there're jus too many factors affecting and pushing you, when you are down under waters, you are on your own, and perhaps the only person you may rely on is probably jus your dive buddy. precautions can be made, but uncertainty are beyond control. Serene's accident got me thinking persistently... i'd got worried for myself as well as for rac's safety, especially its her first attempt, we've got lots to consider for.

anw, my parents came to know abt the news too, and of cos they're kinda against it now that such accident had happened. tho, i'll be very appreciative and happy if they are supportive in whatever i've planned to do, but i noe what held them back, their concern as a parent. any slight error could be disastrous, unrepeatable, and a painful memory to even think of.

ps: pray hard for Serene, hope u can come round soon.

of the Movie 300

Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, '300' is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (cast by Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his million soldiers empire. i went to catch the movie 300 ytd, and yea.. the show was totally awesome! thumbs up for the story line; well re-enacted by the actors/actresses; the blasting sound effect were truly fascinating; intense-stunning actions; hyper-real brutal killings scenes (gruesome to some perhaps); and erotic sexual scenes (its an M18 movie btw).

i personally like the part, on Spartans battle formation at the valley and how they fought fiercely; hand-in-hand with their peers, tho King Leonidas and his partial troops of 300 died honourably in the end, but u'll never imagine how on earth 300 soldiers can even go on battle field to challenge a million empire. on certain times, i feel i could link this movie to LOTR, maybe for the monstrous looking-like creatures and immortals. lastly, not forgetting, the eye-candy for most ladies would probably be the 6-pacs of the Spartans actors! typically each and every one of them comes with a 6-pac build. wow wow wow!! i am definately promoting this movie to anyone who comes along and ask me on 300, a must see!

ps: the gv crew checked on my i/c -.-" jus found out from bro, that he was being checked oso. haa. the rules are kinda stringent now yea?

Botak Jones Clementi

okay.. okay.. Botak Jones, probably not dat unfamiliar to many bah, u might have seen it in paper articles, forums, by word of mouth, etc.

i've been looking forward to trying out this proclaimed best Authentic American Food, that has a few outlets open in different areas of S'pore, and the one i went to is located at the central of Clementi (about 10mins walk from the MRT).

on the outside, you may tend to look down on this small little kopitiam, but once u've stepped in, you'll be greeted with plates and many more plates of Botak Jones American food. cos basically everyones only ordering from the same stall, you see nutthin else but fries, fish & chips, burgers, etc. so anw, you've gotta queue to take orders and then you wait for your food to come. i can only say, the entire coffee house is so stuffy, smoggy, kinda undesirable to stay for long; its the environment i'm talking about, yet to touch on the food. so back to the food, i'd ordered the Cajun Chicken while RY ordered the Fish & Chips. the presentation looks good, actuali the food was pretty up to standard too, but i would prefer more to the chips this time, the portion on the fries overly-excessive i felt. ohh.. yea.. btw, when u order your food from Botak Jones, they will provide the normal ketchup and chilli, in addition they will give you the mustard and some brown vinegar (by heinz), so jus a gentle reminder on the brown vinegar, its meant for the chicken and not on anything else, unless you dun mind of cos, i've added mine on the fries instead.

Gary 曹格 he's the Man

gary's been a hot topic recently, cos he's here in SG for his Superman album's promotion. and there has been alot of commotions going on, since he will be going around places like NTU for a mini concert (on 2nd March'07); Kunion at cineleisure for a short get-together session with his fans, and 7pm at IMM sing cum autography session (on 3rd March'07); and lastly at Junction 8 for a sing cum autography session (on 4th March'07). seriously speaking, i'm not gary's 头号 Fans, but still, i was pretty excited when i was told of his activities during the 3 days ^_^

coincidentally, bud asked me over msn if i am interested in the Kunion event, hee.. of cos i am! wad a chance to get close to gary! *woot* and so jus two nites before the event, (i noe its kinda last minute) but i was busy asking around, if any of my frenz happen to be holding on to Kbox's receipts, with min. of $60 spent within a single receipt. anw, the end-result wasn't fruitful and i didn't managed to get the receipts eventually, i guess its jus not the norm that anyone would keep their receipts yea? haa.. but... incidentally, bud went KTV with her working colleagues.. haaa... and she has the receipts! *tarda* then came the not so-good news, cos having the receipts not necessarily entitle us to the entry pass =x *sian diao*

but being hopeful, we went slightly earlier (i was late by 30mins still) around 1pm when the event starts at 2pm actuali. bud arrived even earlier... and so she got me gary's album and a satin jazz album for herself, before we made our way to Kunion. i wasn't sure its because we were early, cos the crowd wasn't overwhelming at all, definately not wad i was expecting. in my heart i was thinking, dun tell me this is it, so pathetic ah!? others might think otherwise, it'll be a better chance of us getting close to gary isn't it? the lesser the crowd, the better! haa. after some understanding and querying, we got our 'queue number' no.14 & 15, we see no point in standing in the line since we've already got a que no. so we headed down for our brunch instead =) (hungry.. hungry.. we need food, energy, to cheer gary on later!)

we went back before the official 2pm, while we were queuing to enter, the crew came asking the crowd if anyone is a member with kbox, cos if you are, then u're privillege to take picture with gary! boy... taking picture with gary leh! one-to-one picture! (we were thinking) but err... actuali nope, its a group photo rather =x and i was thinking of hugging gary in the midst of the photo-taking! grrr...

anw, gary was rather slack throughout the whole thing, he merely sang the duet 梁山伯与朱丽叶 with one of the female fan, and his favourite Moon River (gary was taken aback when he saw the cheong ver Moon River) haa.. and u noe wad, most of the time he's jus sitting in the crowd hearing his fans singing for him instead =x

we probably noe there's a Fan Club for gary, but do u noe they started off with only 3 members initially and their 会长 is jus a teenage girl lor... and she's so like gary.. esp her hair.. haa... her frenz call her 曹妹, literally means 曹格's 妹妹. bud and i were teasing her nick.. cos 曹妹 sounds like 草莓(strawberry) lor... haa.. but they are nice lah.. cos they made a short DV for gary and after watching it, gary shed his tear, he's thankful to his FC =) the only 美中不足 was, the event ended off superb early lor.. less than an hr i think.. gary's probably tired le bah, he looked so stoned.

An unexpected call

i was awaken up a call this afternoon, in the midst of my deep sleep, but i wasn't totally annoyed, seriously i wasn't. tho i find her voice familiar, but i wasn't certain if that's reali her, so i asked: who's on the line? is this Mrs. Fong? HAA.. i was reali excited to hear frm her again =) then again, how did she get my no? haa.. nvm that, lest she still remembers me 好开心！somehow i feel at ease and reali comfortable toking to her each time, she's so like a mother to me =)

we chatted for a whole 30mins or so; on everything... from her family to mine, to my studies, my work, and err.. mobile phones. lol. i kinda revealed my p/t job to her, and she's complaining over her nokia fone, cmi lah, i then told her my past experience with my N70 and the subsequent swop over to SE fone, haa... and i've totally condemn on nokia since then.

boy... suddenly i misses everyone from Highgate =x 感触良多

it's the first day of Lunar New Year, it's not the norm for me to wakie super early on this day, mainly i dun reali wish to entertain anyone who comes in early in the morning and 'disturb' my sleep =( tho i was awaken by the buzzing sound coming from the hall, but i simply refused to get out of my cosy beddy, til i heard the arrival of my beloved Summer. haa... at the same time go down and collect my ang baos lah.. 顺便 顺便

又是新的一年咯， 今年的农历新年突如其来的快，有点措手不及。不知不觉，2006年 过了，2007年 即悄悄的到来，也莫名其妙的走进了春的季节。

One more day to Chinese New Year

okay... i ain't counting down to CNY, nope, definately not. but nevertheless Chinese New Year is approaching in less than 24hrs! and i've yet to get my new year clothes, such a pathetic fool i am =(

and yea.. i ended up with something else that is kinda beside the point; mum bought me a new wallet and i pampered myself with a new watch which i kinda like v.much =) and besides the 2 items... i went eating again.. hai... putting on weight le =x

met ming at JE central and headed down to chinatown, pearl centre or was it people's park? couldn't differentiate the 2, anw, combed the entire level 2 within an hr. however, we're not convinced and so we switched over to orchard, heeren afterwhich. but anw, the end-results still the same... u can pretty much guessed the outcome. again, i compensate myself with food! ohh.. yes... but tis tiem round, it's a jap ramen which i'd wanted to tried quite some time ago but yet to have the chance to, finally got a taste of it on friday night =)

i had the tamago ramen, or stewed boiled egg ramen, recommended by the server. ramen in broth was topped with pork slices, a stewed boiled egg, spinach, pickled bamboo, spring onions, and a piece of seaweed. the star was the gorgeous soft-boiled egg. with lightly-set whites and a creamy, oozy yolk. i swear, it's really darn good!

man... now i reali get to noe wad it means by ‘ 平常心’where u dun do things on delibrate; and u noe wad, sometimes dat reali helps alot.

i went bugis today with qiu after err... my non-official dismissal. haa.. which means i skipped my lessons in btn break. i was so gan cheong to mit up with qiu, so dat we can mit early and explore more of bugis. anw, my main intention was to get the dress still, no doubt, but i benefited more tis time round, cos i got myself a pair of shoes together with some accessories, which i din planned in getting initially, so it's kinda like a "surprise" lah... and u can get rejoyce over such tiny weeny bit of self-pleasure for buying things u like pretty much =) dats happiness.

ohh.. while.. i din managed to get the dress still, kinda upset lah... but nvm... i hav thur and fri for the very very last min shopping. lol.

today's 14th Feb, and yes.. it's V'day. parco bugis has quite a few vendors selling V'day related gifts, like roses and teddy bears, chocolates etc.. with the men seems extremely busy today. woot~ so many events going on.

Sun with Moon Japanese Dinning & Cafe


hai...

i noe it's not very nice to sigh at the beginning of any start, but i simply can't help but to give a big HAI.. cos cos, i haven got my CNY clothes yet *boo*
went shopping at Far East with qiu & huini few hrs back, hoping to get at least one new set of clothes lor, but sadly, i ended up with none again. and wadz worse, huini can 'sweep' anything in the store lor... she bought more than 5 items i think =(
y ah? shopping should be an easy and enjoyable task mah... i'm dreading it nw. the clock's ticking away..... *tic tock*

on a brighter side, qiu brought me to Sun with Moon Jap dinning cafe, very interesting name they call it. i feel the ambience and lightings are pretty alluring, nice dinning atmosphere.

and so it took us quite awhile to decide on the dishes we're gonna have, b4 we finally concluded on the followings.

dinner main course:
1) beef strips kamameshi with raw egg (traditional steamed seasoned rice pot) recomended!
2) prawn & scallop teppanyaki
3) honey-baked pork thingy (haa.. forgotten the name for it, but the bloody porky damn hard to bite off lah) not recomended!

i personally like the beef kamameshi... the rice is superbly fragrance and tasty... *yummy* see an hourglass on top? (3rd pic from the left), the kamameshi are suppose to simmer for a min or so after it's being served to our table, b4 we can tuck in. desserts are the BEST! no joke =) i'll definately go back again jus for the desserts! hee...


desserts:
1) green tea tiramitsu - unlike the norm tiramitsu cake, it's more like a mousse to me (but qiu says there's another name for it, anw take dat as wad it is for nw)
2) tofu cheesecake - cheesecake! my fave of all, makes me reali fall head over. very smooth and the portion is jus nice, excessive indulgence can be sick.
3) sweet box - assorted small dishes of light snacks like ice-cream, mochi, orange sponge cake and fruits (i'm having sweet tooth now, hee.)
4) my apricot green tea (nicely brewed apricot aroma)

they hav many more desserts in their menu list... too many to be named, shall try them the next time.

i've been wanting to do something to my hair, esp with CNY approaching, everything's gotta be new and fresh! *haa* but i've no idea as to wad changes to be made, headache to me. however, i dun wish to further procrastinate this task, otherwise i probably can't afford the time to even go for a trim (i'll want more than just a trim). hmm.. thinking of changing a new colour.. lighter tone... but scare of the after effect. mm... i'm still pretty lost here, i'll jus throw the thinking part to Agnes bah, certainly hope she understand and propose something to my liking =) so pls dun disappoint me... bless me with the 美美 hairdo ^_^

i haven bought (shop, rather) for my CNY clothes lor.... 怎么办? everyones so busy shopping for CNY and i'm still so laidback. 咳。。这次真的头大咯！tis sat, by hook or by crook oso mus get my CNY outfit le 嗯！
